Areas of Scientific Interest
- Craters. All craters. But mostly Moon craters. :) Specifically, cratering chronologies as determined
by different methods of inquiry: from 40Ar/39Ar dating of impact rocks from the Earth, Asteroids, and Moon; to crater counting
studies of young volcanic terrain on Mars; to examining multi-spectral data of the Moon for trends in the optical maturity of impact
Areas of Education Interest
- Misconceptions, how and why they form, and how we can change them. The cognitive conscious
and unconscious mind, and the development of basic precepts for constructing mental models of our surroundings and
experiences. The development of critical thinking skills, and the acquisition of 'that's gotta be crap' radar to deal with the scams
and urban legends fraught in our society. Encouraging and enabling the participation of active research scientists in education.
